We have an ever-changing terminology in this lab. Refer to this glossary if you have any questions.

  • "All-hands"
    • Everyone should attend.
    • Formerly "All attend"
  • "The Dropbox" - this may mean:
    • the Gersteinlab-meeting-sync Dropbox share, which is the day's temporary repository
    • meetings.gersteinlab.org, which is the ultimate destination of files in the Gersteinlab-meeting-sync Dropbox share
    • the labdropbox Google drive, which is the mirror of meetings. This is mainly for MG's use.
  • "Group Meeting"
    • Presentation of lab member or lab group research or topic of interest. Typically weekly. Everyone should attend.
    • Historically, this was the P1 meeting but has become its own meeting.
  • "I days"
    • Stands for Interactive days. You should physically hang around in the lab.
  • "Journal Cub"
    • Presentation of a paper. Typically weekly.
  • "Meetings"
    • another word for meetings.gersteinlab.org
  • "Minutes"
    • This could mean the P1 Minutes google doc http://bit.ly/mglab-p1minutes, or the corresponding gdoc for sub-group meetings.
    • There will be a weekly email thread "*MINUTES* Dates" to record P1 notes.
    • There might be a seperated email with "*MINUTES*" in the email title, for notes of small sub-group meetings or individual meetings.
  • "P1"
    • The weekly meeting about the week's meetings. The "meta meeting." Everyone should attend.
    • See "Sprint".
  • "P2"
    • These are subgroup meetings.
  • "Scratch"
    • This is referring to the google doc http://bit.ly/mglab-scratch2 for random quick note taking during some meetings.
    • This should be emptied immediately after the meetings ends.
  • "Sprint"
    • The new name of P1.
    • The weekly meeting about the week's meetings. The "meta meeting." Everyone should attend.
